Uploading PDFs, Photos etc

We strive to make it easy and secure for you to input information and get customized insurance ideas. The fastest way to input information is to upload PDF documents or photos for auto, home, renters, condo and umbrella policies.  Ideally. these are PDFs created by the insurance company which you can usually obtain from their website, or from your agent. Documents created by scanning paper will work as long as the image quality is good. If you have multiple documents for one policy with the same sort of information, pick the longer one. So, for example, if you have a two page PDF with your auto declarations page and a 67 page PDF with the full policy, upload the 67 page document but not the two page summary. This way, we get more information on what you really have so we can better pull it apart for you, but we avoid potentially creating two auto policies instead of one. If you really have two or more different auto policies, upload both or all of them.

If you upload a policy and it doesn't appear in MyInfo, or if it does appear but some or all of the information is missing or inaccurate, it likely is because we had difficulty in successfully extracting the information. There are thousands of insurance companies in the US, many of which have multiple IT systems producing documents formatted differently, and there are significant differences in insurance from one state to the next. As we release upgrades to our processing logic, if we think we've found one that helps, we'll update your information in MyInfo.

If your PDF requires a password to open it, or if you can't highlight key numbers inside the document, we may be unable to access your data because your insurer has chosen to restrict your access to your own information. One workaround that often works is to find a web page that summarizes key information such as limits and print it to PDF (instead of printing to a physical printer) using Adobe Professional or various free alternatives including Microsoft Print to PDF. Then just upload the PDFs you create this way.

The PDF uploading and parsing algorithms work for key documents created by the biggest insurers and for most of the second tier players too.
